Often when we push a little harder or persist a little longer we see better results. I’m so proud of Dan Vella. He has written a beautiful song which I’ve had the privilege of working on these past few weeks. Dan is a talented writer who is not afraid of hard work and his debut release will certainly tell that tale.
The concept of an artist being ‘true to themselves’ is never more apparent than during the moment an idea is birthed. When an unspoken musical notion is materialising right here in the room, it’s exciting for everyone. As songwriters, if you can get it right early, then you’re half way to creating something of real significance. The art of writing and rewriting is often a journey of self discovery. Embrace it. When you allow time for your thoughts to distil, the colours and voices in your head begin to breath. That’s when the burden once placed on your heart becomes a gift for everyone.
So honour your gift and create something uniquely you for the world.
Daniel Shaw is an Australian singer, songwriter and musician releasing his first single in 2009 and in 2011 released a full album of original songs. Daniel toured with his album in 2011 in the USA, Canada and in Europe enjoying radio air play, TV and press coverage.
Daniel has been working hard for a long time and it shows. His latest songs are melodic, big and very memorable. They have been honed on the streets of Melbourne, Australia where Daniel has been busking for the best part of a decade. It has been fantastic working with Dan over the past couple of months. His piano playing is effortless and perfect for his style of piano based pop which at times sounds like Chris Martin couldn’t make a Coldplay gig so the band got James Blunt to fill in. I’m really looking forward to this one. So far so good.
