Often when we push a little harder or persist a little longer we see better results. I’m so proud of Dan Vella. He has written a beautiful song which I’ve had the privilege of working on these past few weeks. Dan is a talented writer who is not afraid of hard work and his debut release will certainly tell that tale.
Wantaways. Eclectic and always surprising me. I never quite know what’s going on inside the head of Ken, Wantaways lead singer and songwriter. Strange thing is, he knows exactly what’s going on and eventually we all get introduced to the Wantaways world. Ultimately the destination is worth the journey and the journey is always fun.
Mature beyond her years, Annika has a presence that is both calming and mesmersing. I found it easy to get lost inside her songs as my mind meandered around the worlds she created. A gentle yet powerful and emotive singer, Annika is another vocalist who I could listen to all day long.
When I first met April she had just driven three and a half hours from country Victoria. She had a handful of songs and a truckload of determination. Within minutes of us talking I knew her stories would resonate with the listener. Based in Portland, Victoria where she works in the family business, April has penned songs that honour her small town roots yet reflect a desire to explore beyond the paddocks and fences.
Stevie’s voice belies his age, yet unintentionally reveals more about him than you would otherwise know. It was such a pleasure working with Stevie, who grew up in my hometown of Geelong, Victoria. Cautious and guarded, Stevie’s honesty at times was confronting and so I felt priveleged to help bring his songs to life.
